Strollers at Disney World- What you need to know
I had some questions about strollers at Disney World. Before I travel anywhere I like to find out every detail about where I’m going. When I went to Disney World Ezra was 3 and Alexandra was 18 months old. Therefore, I needed to use a double stroller. I ended up renting one from Magic Strollers. The Stroller was a side by side. Because of this, I was worried how difficult it would be to get around in stores, or even if I could take a stroller in the stores.
I had lots of questions like, where do you park the stroller when you go on a ride? Do they allow strollers in restaurants? Do you have to fold up a stroller before getting on the skyliner? I searched for these type of questions but I didn’t find an answer to all my questions. I hope this will help anyone with the same questions I had. Now that I have been to Disney World with a stroller I have a better understanding about what it’s like. I will tell you all I learned from having a stroller at Disney World.
Does a stroller fit on the skyliner?
When the skyliner opened Disney released a short video that showed a mother walking on the skyliner with a single stroller. From that video it would seem that if you have a single stroller it will fit in between the benches without folding it up. I had a side by side double stroller. The cast member told me to fold it up before stepping into the skyliner. So, if you have a side by side stroller it will need to be folded. I image a tandem double stroller should fit without folding it up. But, the cast member will let you know if it should be folded.
Stroller Parking
Stroller parking is everywhere at the Disney World parks, especially in the Magic Kingdom. It’s easy to find. Look for the many rows of strollers and the ropes that block off the section. Stroller parking is generally always found near attractions. Some stroller parking areas are very big and some are much smaller. Remember that cast members will come and adjust the strollers around to make more space. So, if the stroller is not where you left it, don’t freak out. It’s still in the same general area.
Can you take a stroller on the bus?
One of the main forms of transportation at Disney World is the bus. Before boarding the bus the stroller needs to be folded up. I never had to wait very long for a bus. For this reason, I made sure to have my stroller folded as soon as I arrived at the bus stop. One of the reasons I rented a stroller is because my stroller is hard to fold up. The wheels have to line up just right to fold it up. Make sure you have a stroller that is easy to fold up.
Are strollers allowed in restaurants?
I had a reservation at Prime Time Café. Both my kids had fallen asleep in the stroller. I asked them if it was alright to bring the stroller into the restaurant. They had no problem with it. They made sure there was enough room at the table to park a stroller. Prime Time Café doesn’t have a ton of space between tables but my side by side stroller was able to get in and out of the restaurant with no problems.
Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom also let me take the stroller into the restaurant. Once again my youngest was asleep during our meal. It seemed to be a very common occurrence at meal time. Also, I took my stroller into Satu’li Canteen and Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe. To me it seemed like most quick service restaurants will allow strollers. When it comes to Table Service dinning, I would ask a cast member first, just to make sure. Since each restaurant might have different policies about strollers. Also, when we ate at The Crystal Palace there was stroller parking outside the restaurant.
The Land Pavilion
Soarin’ and Living with the Land are rides in The Land Pavilion, as well as restaurants Sunshine Seasons and Garden Grill. There was a cast member standing outside The Land Pavilion with the specific job to tell people that strollers aren’t allowed. This was the only time at Disney World where I was told I couldn’t take my stroller somewhere. Stroller parking is to the right of the entrance and it’s a big one. You won’t miss it. I would say, if you have plans to go into The Land Pavilion try to do everything you want while you’re in there. With little kids it is quite the hassle to make more than one trip into the pavilion
Can strollers go into shops?
From what I found, you can take a stroller into stores. There is plenty of room for a stroller to move around in stores. Some stores are bigger than others but there was always enough space to walk around. I was never told I couldn’t take a stroller inside a store. Also, always remember to be kind and courteous to other shoppers. Make sure you don’t block pathways.
Stroller Rules at Disney World
Disney World has a few rules about strollers. The Disney World website states, “Strollers must be 31” (79cm) wide and 52” (132cm) long or smaller. As a reminder, wagons are not permitted in our parks. Stroller wagons will also no longer be permitted”.
Stroller Rentals
Disney World rents strollers throughout the theme parks and Disney Springs. Single and double strollers are available. Moreover, strollers must be returned at the end of the day. Third-party vendors are another option, especially if you need a stroller outside the parks. Third-party vendors include, Kingdom Strollers, Magic Strollers, and Orlando Stroller Rentals, to name a few. They will deliver the stroller to your hotel. However, you must be there when the stroller is delivered. Before, the stroller was dropped off at bell services but Disney changed that policy.
I rented a stroller from Magic Strollers. It was a great high quality stroller with lots of shade. What I really liked is that it came with a tag with my name on it. So, I never mixed up my stroller with another one.
I worried so much about strollers at Disney World. But now that I’ve been I know its not a big deal. Stroller parking is great. Anytime there is an attraction, stroller parking isn’t too faraway.
