Docking Bay 7 – Walt Disney World
Docking Bay 7 is a quick service restaurant in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. The inside is themed as a working hangar bay. The menu items are made to look like they could be from another world. The dishes have interesting names such as, Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip and Kaadu Ribs. My family ate here on our last trip to Walt Disney World. Here is our experience and what we thought of the food.
Atmosphere
Inside the restaurant it does feel like you are in another world and inside a hangar bay. It made me feel like I was in a Star Wars movie. Disney did an amazing job decorating the restaurant. Some seats look like cargo barrels. I loved the decor and everything about it. The restaurant has plenty of seating. Also, there’s seating outside.
We sat near a robot type of thing that had buttons light up and was smoking. It was really cool and made the experience even better. Even if the food wasn’t great I would eat here for the atmosphere.
Roasted Endorian Chicken Salad
My mom ordered the Roasted Endorian Chicken Salad. The salad has marinated chicken with mixed greens, quinoa, pumpkin seeds, and roasted vegetables. She thought it tasted fine. The chicken tasted good. However, the rest of the dish lacked flavor. It needed something more to make it better. Perhaps if the dressing was more flavorful. At least the greens were fresh and not wilted. She tasted our dishes and wished she had chosen the fried chicken. All in all, it wasn’t bad just not as good as the other food.
Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip
I ordered the Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip. You have the choice of mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, or roasted vegetables as a side. For my side I went with the mashed potatoes with herb gravy. The gravy had a unique flavor. Something I’ve never tasted before. It was good and had a slight kick to it. Perfect for a dish that’s meant to be in a far away galaxy. The mashed potatoes also had veggies mixed in which was a nice surprise.
The chicken had good flavor and was a good portion size. Moreover, the entire dish was filling. Also, the presentation and quality of the food made it seem like a table service meal. I would definitely eat the Chicken Tip Yip again.
Smoked Kaadu Pork Ribs
Tim ate the Smoked Kaadu Pork Ribs. It came with a blueberry corn muffin and cabbage slaw. The blueberry corn muffin might seem like a weird pairing. However, it was really good and went well with the ribs. The barbecue sauce was delicious and the ribs were juicy not dry. Moreover, I had a taste and I will order this meal next time we come. It was so good. I think I might like it more than the chicken. In fact, I think it was better than all the dishes I tasted.
Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip Youngling Meal
Candon and Zachary ate the kids meal version of the Chicken Tip Yip. The youngling meal came with macaroni and cheese and broccoli. The kids had fun eating the chicken. It was much smaller than the adult meal. However, since it was small they picked up the chicken and ate it with their hands. They really liked it. I think it could have been a little bigger but they didn’t complain. The macaroni and cheese was very creamy and good. The kids ate everything on their plate even the broccoli. It was definitely a winner.
However, if your an adult that wants to eat the kids meal version, I wouldn’t recommend it. Simply because the chicken portion size isn’t enough for most adults. That being said, if you don’t mind the small portion size then you could order it to save some money. It’s about a $5 dollar difference.
Paddy Frog Sipper
We also bought the Paddy Frog Sipper. Inside is an alien frog creature and it lights up. It can be filled with any drink. I went with Powerade. It’s a fun souvenir that the kids will have fun drinking from at home.
Conclusion
We ate here at 4:30 pm and I was surprised by how few people were eating here. Maybe it gets busier later in the day. But for how good the food is, I was surprised more people weren’t eating here. Hollywood Studios has lots of fun themed restaurants. So perhaps that’s one reason for the lack of customers. I just hope more guests will realize how good the food is.
I loved Docking Bay 7! The food was so delicious. The price of the food is a little more than other quick service restaurants. However, it’s worth it. The food and the atmosphere really makes a day in Batuu extra special. I felt like I was eating at a table service restaurant. The quality of food is what I expect at a sit down restaurant. I enjoyed it and had a hearty meal. I will be back and I can’t wait to eat here again.
