Disney World Park Hours Cut Back in September
Disney World park hours have been cut back for the month of September. Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek admitted that Disney World has experienced a higher number of cancellations than what they were expecting. However, he also stated that parks have been staying close to park capacity.
The fall season will see shorter hours at each of the four parks starting September 8. Here are the current hours so you can compare. Magic Kingdom, 9 am to 7 pm, Animal Kingdom 8 am to 6 pm, Hollywood Studios 10 am to 8 pm, and Epcot 11 am to 9 pm.
Hours starting September 8, 2020
Magic Kingdom – 9 am to 6 pm
Animal Kingdom – 9 am to 5 pm
Hollywood Studios – 10 am to 7pm
Epcot – 11 am to 7 pm
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to visit the parks since reopening. However, I have read plenty of accounts from people who visit the parks frequently. Their experience has shown that the parks are more empty at the end of the night. The majority of people aren’t staying the entire day. Honestly, if I was there I would ride every ride and then ride them again. However, I can see why some would leave early. Shows aren’t currently running and not all restaurants are open.
Disney is probably closing early because they see this slow down at the end of the night. Moreover, September normally is one of the least attended months out of the year. The reduced park hours are scheduled until October 31, 2020.
Park attendance may continue to be low in October, due to the cancellation of Mickey’s Not- So- Scary Halloween party. Who knows if they will even decorate the parks. As Halloween gets closer, they may decide to decorate. However, since they have scaled back their work force, they might not. Plus, the parks will have fewer attendees. I for one hope they do a little something to celebrate Halloween. It would help to bring in more guests to the parks.
November and December are well attended months. Therefore, we will have to wait and see if Disney World park hours change. Currently, Disney may have more rooms filled for November and December. However, if cases begin to spike, they may see more cancellations.
