Be Our Guest Restaurant Lunch Review

The Beast’s Castle

Be Our Guest is a restaurant in the Magic Kingdom at Disney World. The castle has three different rooms to enjoy your meal, the Grand Ballroom, the West Wing and the Castle Gallery. Breakfast and lunch is a Counter Service meal. And dinner is a Table Service meal. Lunch is the cheapest option. Breakfast and lunch are 1 meal credit on the Disney Dining Plan but dinner is signature dining and 2 meal credits. If you are on the Dining Plan you will have to decide if it’s worth it to use 2 meal credits for dinner.

Ever since it opened Be Our Guest has been a popular and hard to get reservation. I was lucky enough to snag one when I booked 180 days out. We went for lunch and we were handed a menu as we stood in line. Having 4 kids it was a little hectic to figure out what we would order before we got to the front of the line. For this reason, It would have been better to know before hand what everyone wanted. Alexandra was asleep in the stroller and they had no problem with me taking the stroller into the restaurant. We sat in the Castle Gallery in the corner. It was a nice place to sit because we weren’t surrounded by tables and didn’t feel crowded.

The Meal

I ordered the Croque Monsieur. It’s a grilled ham sandwich with bechamel and sounded good. The ham was hard to chew, it was thick and had big chunks of fat in it. It seemed like a cheap cut of ham. There were parts that I couldn’t eat because it was too tough to chew. I really wish I had ordered something else. If we come here again I will never order it again.

Tim had the French Dip Sandwich. I didn’t try his but it did look better than what I ordered. He thought it tasted good and a little above average compared to other french dip sandwiches hes tried. But for $17.49 maybe not worth the price. Still, it was good enough to get again.

Candon and Zachary enjoying their food

Candon ordered Lumiere’s De-Light a dish of grilled shrimp, applesauce and broccoli. His plate had 4 or 5 shrimp, which to me seemed like a small portion for the price. He ate it up and thought it was very yummy. The broccoli was big and raw. I wish the broccoli had been steamed and cut smaller because Candon found it hard to eat.

Ezra really had fun with his food

Ezra and Zachary both ordered the Les Macaronis Maurice. It came with macaroni and marinara sauce in separate bowls and cheese to sprinkle on top. They had lots of fun mixing the sauce into the macaroni. It was like preparing their own meal just the way they wanted it. Zachary is a picky eater and doesn’t always eat much so he only took a few bites. Ezra really enjoyed his food. He made quite the mess. He decided the fork wasn’t good enough and that he should eat the macaroni like a dog. The dish also came with raw broccoli but at least their pieces were smaller. Ezra usually loves broccoli but he prefers it softer. Therefore, he didn’t eat too much of it.

Final Thoughts

One of the highlight for me is the fact that I had a reserved seat for a counter service meal. As a family of 6 there were a few times we struggled to find enough seats for everyone. At Be Our Guest you will never run into that problem since it’s reserved seating. I’m glad we had the chance to see inside Beast’s Castle but I don’t feel the need to return. If I do return it would be to experience dinner. I’ve heard the food is better.

I’m not completely sure the food is worth the price. It’s kind of a one and done for me. If you really want to see inside Beast’s Castle then you should go at least once. But from my experience don’t order the Croque Monsieur. But, it’s possible I just got a bad batch and that it’s really tasty from time to time.
