At times when I was planing my Disney vacation it started to feel like the ideal family size would be a family of four. The majority of the hotel rooms have a capacity of four. Also, many of their special offers that get released are for a family of four. But Disney World Resorts do offer rooms with a capacity of 5 up to 12 people.

We are a family of 6. Therefore, when I planned our Disney World vacation, I really had to do my homework to figure out where we could stay without booking 2 rooms. Moreover, if you are anything like me, you want to find the cheapest option. Luckily, there are some options among the Value Resorts. I will be going over where a family of 6 can stay at Disney World Resorts. Also included are the Deluxe Resorts which are at a higher rate. But I want to include every Resort that has rooms that sleep 6.

Disney’s Art of Animation Suites

Disney’s Art of Animation has family suites. The suites sleep 6 and there are 3 different themed rooms to choose from. Lion King, Cars, and Finding Nemo room. The family suites include a living room with a pull out bed, a main bedroom, and another room with a pull down bed that is converted into a table during the day. In addition, the family suites have a kitchenette and 2 bathrooms. Finding Nemo rooms are more expensive than the Lion King and Cars Suites. This is because it is the closest to the Animation Hall, where you will find Landscape of Flavors.

Landscape of Flavors is the food court for this Resort. Also, it is considered to be one of the best food courts among the value resorts. In addition to good food, Art of Animatoin also has the skyliner near it. The skyliner is a great and fast way to get to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Art of Animations The Big Blue Pool is the largest Resort pool in all of the Disney World Resorts. The Big Blue Pool is located in between the Finding Nemo suites. The Cars suite also has a pool called the Cozy Cone Pool. Unfortunately, there is not a pool at the Lion King suites.

Disney’s All-Star Music Family Suites

Disney’s All-Star Music Family Suites are the cheapest option for a family of 6. This is located in the All-Star Music Resort. The Resort is themed to popular music genres. The Resort also has a guitar-shaped pool. The dining option is Intermission food court. I like food courts because there are many options to choose from. Since, I have four kids with different palates, it’s easier to find something for everyone.

The family suite is a one bedroom suite with a queen-size bed. The living room area has a double-size sleeper sofa, a twin-size sleeper ottoman, and a twin-size sleeper chair. The family suite also includes a kitchenette and 2 bathrooms. The only downside is that the bus is the only transportation option.

Moderate Resorts

Moderate Resorts with a 5 sleeper room

A 5th sleeper room can be booked for a family of 6 with one child under 3 that sleeps in a crib. Disney Resorts offer complimentary pack and play, make sure to request it ahead of time. This is a great option if you have a child still in a crib. Moderate resorts are much cheaper than the Deluxe Resorts. However, if you don’t want to all sleep in one room the Value Resort Suites would be a better option.

On our vacation we stayed at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and they had no problem with us being a party of 6. I requested a crib ahead of time. When we arrived, the pack and play was already set up, which was really nice. When you have children to take care it’s always nice when there is one less thing to worry about.

Disney’s Moderate Resorts that sleep 5 are Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. The rooms include 2 queen beds and a child size pull down bed. The Caribbean beach Resort has two modes of transportation, the skyliner and bus. Port Orleans Resort has bus and boat for transportation options.

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

The Cabins sleep 6 and includes a living room, bedroom, bathroom, and a kitchen. The kitchen has a refrigerator and a dishwasher, microwave and a stove. There is even a patio with a charcoal grill. Surrounded by trees it really feels like you are in a forest. The Cabin has 1 queen bed, 1 bunk bed and 1 double-size sleeper sofa.

If you want to feel like you are in a forest, this is the place for you. The Cabins are great if you want to put space between you and other Resort guests. Also, The Cabins have a pool. Meadow Swimmin’ Pool has a waterslide and whirlpool spa. In addition, there is a water play area for younger kids. Modes of transportation include boat and bus.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Gran Destino Tower

The Gran Destino Tower is a new addition to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. The Resort offers suites, and casitas that sleep families of 6. Here are the options, Tower Presidential Suite Club Access ( 1 king bed and 2 queen beds), Casitas (1 bedroom suite 2 queen beds and 1 queen size sleeper sofa),Casitas Executive Suites (1 king bed and 2 queen beds and 1 queen-size sleeper sofa).

Deluxe Resort Hotels

If you don’t mind spending extra on your vacation resort, then stay at a Deluxe Resort. Typically the Deluxe Resorts are bigger than the Value or Moderate. Moreover, Deluxe rooms are more luxurious and offer more amenities. Some of them are even close enough to walk to the Disney Parks. For example, the Contemporary is within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom. Deluxe Resorts are quite a bit more than the Value and Moderate. So, if you are planning on staying at the parks all day, it might be better to go with the Value or Moderate Resorts.

Since Epcots international gateway is within walking distance, taking the skyliner is easy if headed to Hollywood Studios. The  2 Bedroom Suite sleeps 6 with 2 king beds and 1 queen size sleeper sofa.

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn has some good night time entertainment options. Although, that means it can be noisy outside the Resort at night. Therefore, if you have small kids it might not be the best option. Here the Deluxe room sleeps 6 with 2 queen beds and 1 queen-size sleeper sofa. The BoardWalk Inn is close enough to walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios as well as, transportation via bus and boat. The walk to Hollywood Studios takes about 15 to 20 minutes, but it takes about 10 minutes to get to Epcot.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge offers limited transportation options. To get anywhere your only free option is via bus. Also, it is not within walking distance to The Animal Kingdom. But, the Resort is beautiful and has some of the best dining options. Boma, Jiko, Sanaa, and The Mara, these are all highly rated with Resort guests. Moreover, you can’t beat the view. With the Savanna View rooms you will see animals right outside your window. One bedroom suites sleep 6 and include 2 queen beds and 1 queen size sleeper sofa.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has a gorgeous lobby that can’t be beat during Christmas time. The Resort also has some pretty good options for dining. There is Whispering Canyon Café, Geyser Point and Roaring Fork. Also, a fun option is Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White. This is a character meal where you will meet Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy and The Queen. Transportation options are boat and bus. But, it can be a hard to get reservation. The Deluxe Room sleeps 6, with 2 queen beds and 1 queen-size sleeper sofa.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa has several transportation options via bus, boat and monorail. Rooms that sleep 6 are the outer building 1 bedroom suite club level access. The room includes 2 queen beds and 1 double-size sleeper sofa.

Disney’s Deluxe Villas

Disney World also has Deluxe Villas. These are part of Disney’s Vacation Club. DVC is Disney’s version of a timeshare. But, Disney sets aside rooms for non- DVC members. Therefore, you don’t have to own one to stay there. There are currently 12 DVC properties at Disney World.

Disney World Villa Resorts come with a kitchen, washer and dryer. So, if you want to cook during your vacation to save money, this is a good option. The Deluxe Villas can sleep anywhere from 4 up to 12 people. Therefore, if you have a really big group and don’t want to stay in separate hotel rooms, this is a great option.

Rooms can be booked through the Disney website. But another great option is to rent from a DVC member. Here is a website to rent from called the DVC Rental Store.
