Tips for Disney World in 2021
Walt Disney World is a different experience in 2021. Mobile order has become essential this year. There is also no fastpass+. Therefore, planning when to ride attractions is important. In this post I will go over tips for Disney World in 2021. Things such as park reservations, mobile order, and getting a Rise of the Resistance boarding group.
Mobile Order ahead of time
Walt Disney World has two types of restaurants, quick service and table service. Table service restaurants require a reservation. Quick service is Disney’s version of fast food. It’s the quick service locations that have mobile order. However, not all have mobile order. If you don’t want to worry about using it then read my post about where to eat without a mobile order.
Before this year most people didn’t use mobile order. It use to be a great tip for getting food fast without waiting in long lines. However, in 2021 it has become a must for ordering food at quick service locations. With everyone using it it has become difficult to get your order quickly. Now it’s important to plan ahead and make a mobile order soon after getting into the parks. Time slots can fill up fast and you might be waiting an hour or more to get your food if you don’t order it ahead of time.
Mobile order is simple and easy to use. On the My Disney Experience app, just click on the + at the bottom of the screen. Then click on order food. Find a restaurant and pick one of the available time slots, then pick your food selections, and order. Its real easy and convenient. However, if you wait until lunch time to order, there may not be any times available right away. That is why it’s important to make your order as soon as you can.
Theme Park Reservations
Walt Disney World has a limited capacity at each of it’s parks. For this reason they implemented the theme park reservation system. The theme park that books up the fastest is Hollywood Studios. So, it’s important to book park reservations as soon as you can. As of right now many parks are filling up with no availability left for some parks into June. The first and second week of May has some days with no availability for any park. Therefore make sure to get your park reservations because you never know how quickly it will get booked up.
Rope Drop
More tips for Disney World, arrive at the parks an hour before they open. They have been letting guests enter the park before it officially opens. Guests might be let in half an hour or more before it opens. The earlier you get in, the more you will get done.
Head to the rides that have consistently long lines. For the Magic Kingdom the rides with the longest waits are, Splash Mountain, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Animal Kingdom rides with the longest wait, Flight of Passage, and Kilimanjaro Safaris. Epcot rides with high waits, Test Track and Soarin Around the World. Hollywood Studios longest waits are Slinky Dog Dash, and Tower of Terror. Lately, the Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run has had some high wait times at the beginning of the day. However, it does fluctuate throughout the day. As well as, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Another reason rope drop is important is because fastpass+ is still not available. Before you could get on a ride like Seven Dwarfs quickly if you snagged a fastpass. However, now the only way to guarantee a shorter wait is to get there before the crowds.
Rise of the Resistance
The hardest ride to get on is Rise of the Resistance. It’s not the standard queue. The only way to ride is to get a boarding group. You have mere seconds to join a boarding group. Times to join are at 7 am and 1 pm.
To increase your chances, book two days at Hollywood Studios. That way if you don’t get a boarding group the first day, try again the next day. Now, you don’t have to spend two days at Hollywood Studios. All you have to do is change your reservation to a different park and cancel one of the Hollywood Studios days. However, lately I’ve been noticing that some parks are completely booked up. So there is a risk of not being able to change the reservation.
Know Whats Closed
Since Walt Disney World reopened last July, certain restaurants have remained closed. Although the crowds have returned and life at Disney seems more normal, not everything has reopened. Casey’s Corner and Columbia Harbor House are still closed. However, some of their menu items are found at other restaurants.

More things yet to return are shows. Disney announced that Festival of the Lion King will return this summer. However, we’re still waiting to hear when the other shows will return. Also, Disney hasn’t announced when firework will return.
