Should I wait until my kid is older before going to Walt Disney World? This is a question many parents ask. Also, will they remember the trip. For many, Disney World is a once in a lifetime vacation. Therefore, it is a legitimate concern. However, there are some good reasons not to wait. In this blog post I will go over the benefits for taking little kids to Disney World.

Kids Under 3 are Free

One of the best benefits for taking little kids is, they are free if under 3. A Walt Disney World vacation is expensive. However, its cheaper if your kid is under 3 years old. They can get into the park without purchasing a ticket. Which is great since tickets are expensive. Therefore, it’s one less expense on your trip. It can really save you a lot of money.

Another great thing is that kids under 3 can eat off your plate. Of course, I’m talking about table service restaurants. If you’re eating at a quick service location, you can share with anyone. Sharing meals is a great way to save money because food at Disney World is expensive.

The Benefits of a Stroller

Walt Disney World is very tiring. However, little kids don’t have to get tired walking around all day. Kids get to relax and enjoy the views from their stroller. Disney is very accommodating for those with strollers. There were times when my kids were asleep in the stroller during a dining reservation and the restaurant let me take the stroller inside. In addition, stroller parking is found throughout each park. Normally found near rides.

Another great thing, my kids took naps easily in their stroller. I’m sure with some help from the Florida heat. I didn’t end up going back to the resort for nap time since they achieved that by riding in a stroller. Not everyone will have the same experience. Every child is different. However, my 3 year old has a hard time falling asleep for nap time. But in Disney World he had no problem.

Also, another benefit for having a stroller, its a place to store bags. I had water bottles and backpacks. It was nice not carrying that stuff around all day. I could just leave it in the stroller.

So Many Rides for Little Ones

Another benefit for taking little kids, so many great family rides. Walt Disney World has over 40 attractions with no height requirement. Magic Kingdom has by far the most attractions for little one, with over 20. One of the things I love most about Disney World, so many rides the whole family can go on. Hollywood Studios has the least amount of rides with no height requirement. However, there are some fun lands to explore like, Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land.

Stay in a Resort Room for 4 with a Party of 5

If you have a child under 3 years old, they can sleep in a crib. Therefore, Disney World resorts won’t count that child toward the hotel room capacity limits. Which is another way to save money. If you are a party of 5 with a child under 3, you can still stay at a value resort. The resorts have cribs available upon request.

Same thing applies for a party of 6 with a kid under 3. Moderate resorts such as Caribbean Beach resort and Port Orleans Resort Riverside have rooms for a party of 5. The nightly rate for the moderate resorts is cheaper than the family suites at Art of Animation resort which sleeps 6. Therefore, you will save money if one of your kids is under 3.

Rider Switch

Disney has this awesome thing called rider switch. This makes it easier for a family to ride rides that little ones can’t. Say you want to ride an attraction but your kid is too small to ride. What you do is, go up to the cast member at the entrance of the ride. Tell the cast member you want to use rider switch. They will ask who is staying with the child. Then they scan that persons magic band, essentially giving them a fastpass. Once the group riding comes back then that person waiting can go on through the fastpass line to ride.

Also, up to 2 other people can go on with you. For example, my older 2 sons were tall enough to ride so they would go on with me while my husband waited with the younger 2 kids. But their magic bands needed to be scanned when I scanned my band for rider switch. Also, since it is a fastpass, you don’t have to go on right away. You have an hour to use that fastpass.

Baby’s First Haircut

Did you know there’s a barbershop in the Magic Kingdom? Not only that, but they have a special thing called My first haircut. The haircut comes with a mickey ears hat that is etched with the words My 1st Haircut. As well as, a certificate and a lock of hair. It only costs $25. That’s not bad for all the stuff it comes with. So, if you want to have an extra special first haircut for your child, you must come when their still little.

Memories

One of the greatest benefits for taking little kids to Walt Disney World is the memories. I don’t know how much my 18 month old and 3 year old will remember. However, I have photos that they will be able to look at and say, I went to Disney World. Pictures are the best. Those pictures will always be special. My 3 year old loves Mickey Mouse now. A year later he still seems to remember the trip.

Walt Disney World may be a once in a lifetime trip for many. However, if you get the Disney bug after your first trip, you will probably be back. As a teenager I got the Disney bug when I went to Disneyland. I loved Disneyland but I also wanted to see Disney World. Therefore, my dream became a Walt Disney World trip. It took me 20 years before that dream became a reality. Now that I’ve gone I hope to go back again and again.
