Gaston’s Tavern Review 2021

Gaston’s Tavern is a quick service location in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. The menu has just a few items. At one time they did have sandwiches. Hopefully they will make a come back. Although, the menu is small, Gaston’s Tavern has some great snacks. It’s famous for it’s big cinnamon roll. Also, it’s home to the specialty drink LeFou’s Brew.

Atmosphere

Inside Gaston’s Tavern there’s a fireplace with Gaston’s chair next to it. Normally guests can sit in the chair to take a picture. However, right now guests aren’t allowed to sit in it. The theme of this restaurant is on point. As we sat inside, I really felt like this was Gaston’s place. Disney did a great job decorating it.

I was actually surprised how many seats were inside the restaurant. However, it’s not so many that you won’t have trouble finding a sit when it’s busy. I do recommend sitting inside if you can. It’s fun to look around at all the decorations as you eat. It really completes the experience eating here.

The Food

We tried the Grey Stuff Cupcake, Warm Cinnamon Roll, and LeFou’s Brew. My kids really enjoyed LeFou’s Brew. We shared 2 cups between the 5 of us. They liked it so much that they wanted more.

LeFou’s Brew

LeFou’s Brew is frozen apple juice with a toasted marshmallow flavor as well as a passion fruit mango foam on top. I really liked this drink. Another important thing is, I could taste all those flavors. There are times when a menu item has a bunch of different flavors and it can be hard to taste all of them. However, that’s not the case with LeFou’s Brew. As I drank I got that hint of toasted marshmallow. Also, passion fruit has a very unique flavor which was coming through. Moreover, I think the flavors blend well together. It’s a fun drink you can’t get anywhere else and definitely worth a try.

Warm Cinnamon Roll

The cinnamon roll is huge and easily shareable. If you love frosting, make sure to request some on the side. It was a good cinnamon and it wasn’t dry. It had some kind of filling on the inside that kept it moist.

I make cinnamon rolls at home all the time. So, I know a good cinnamon roll. The roll was nice and fluffy. When I make my filling, the butter cinnamon sugar mixture coats the inside but it’s never wet once baked. They must do something different than the traditional cinnamon roll recipe. Because it seemed to have a kind of buttery filling on the inside that wasn’t dry.

The icing was your typical cinnamon roll icing. I actually like to make a cream cheese buttercream frosting for my cinnamon rolls which really brings it up a notch. So, for me the icing was okay. It was very sweet. However, if you like that kind of icing then you’ll love this.

This is a great snack and should be on your list to try. It could also be a great breakfast item if you like pastry’s for breakfast.

The Grey Stuff Cupcake

When they say, “try the grey stuff it’s delicious”, their not kidding. This was my first time eating it. When Gaston’s Tavern put this on the menu I was so excited. I didn’t get a chance to eat it when I ate at Be Our Guest. Therefore, I’m so happy that it’s no longer only at Be Our Guest.

The grey stuff seems to be a cookies and cream mousse. I could be wrong but it has that light and creamy texture that a mousse has. It’s so nice and light and not super sweet. The cupcake is filled with more grey stuff in the middle. Which was not too much because its so light.

Also, the cupcake is chocolate and has good flavor. It wasn’t dry. It was moist and went well with the grey stuff. Next time your in the Magic Kingdom make sure to try this cupcake.

Conclusion

Gaston’s Tavern is a great place to stop by for a treat. It’s a must in my book. Everything on the menu is delicious. The atmosphere is fun. It does get busy at times. We were there at 9 am on a week day and only a few people were in line. So, perhaps morning’s are normally less busy. I highly recommend eating here.
