Satu’li Canteen Review with Kids

Satu'li Canteen

In this post I will be reviewing Satu’li Canteen Restaurant located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World. I ate here with my husband and our four kids. I will share what we thought about the food and if I think it is worth it.

The main reason I decided to eat here was because of all the glowing reviews. But I thought, how can a food bowl be that great. However, since there was so much praise for this place, I decided to give it a chance.

Satu’li Canteen is located in Pandora – The World of Avatar. It’s one of the newest quick service restaurants in the Animal Kingdom. Here you get to build your own bowl. Choose between proteins, base, and sauce. Chicken, beef, shrimp, and tofu are the protein options. Noodles, rice. and a sweet potato hash are the choices for the base. Charred green onion vinaigrette, black bean vinaigrette, and creamy herb dressing are the sauces.

We ate here at 7 p.m. and it was pretty empty. Therefore, we didn’t have to worry about finding an empty table. However, this restaurant has high capacity seating, so there are plenty of places inside and outside to sit. A great plus for larger groups. If you have ever had trouble finding seats, I have some tips to help.

The Food

I ordered the Slow-Roasted Sliced Grilled Beef Bowl. For my base and sauce, I went with noodles and the creamy herb dressing. It was delicious, packed with flavor. The flavors were so rich that I think I might ask to get the sauce on the side, next time. I went with noodles because I just love asian flavored noodles. Also, I ordered the Pandoran Sunrise. I loved this drink, it was so refreshing. The only thing I didn’t love was the size. I wanted more and felt like there wasn’t enough of it.

Tim ordered the Combination Bowl with noodles and the creamy herb dressing. His bowl had chicken and beef. Although the beef tasted great, the chicken was even better. It had a grilled flavor to it, making it even more flavorful then the beef.

Kids thoughts

For the kids we ordered the Cheese Quesadilla and Cheeseburger Steamed Pods. Each came with milk, chips and a mandarin orange. Candon enjoyed his Cheeseburger Pod. However, Zachary didn’t want to eat it. He is the picky eater out of the bunch. I had to convince him to just take one bite. He didn’t even want to try it but he wasn’t won over by the two bites he ate. Can’t win them all, I guess. Alexandra enjoyed eating the Cheese Quesadillas but Ezra wasn’t feeling well so he wouldn’t touch his food.

Tip for picky eaters

Go over menu options before going on vacation. Plan ahead what they will order. Make sure they have a say in where you plan on eating. Or at least make sure there are options on the menu they will like. I have a free printable to help plan menu orders ahead of time.

Final thoughts

I will definitely come back again. Satu’li Canteen is a must do in my opinion. The great thing about the menu is the food bowl variations. It will never be a boring experience. Each time can be a new adventure for the palate. This time I had grilled beef and noodles and next time could be grilled chicken and sweet potato hash. Out of all the restaurants I ate at in Disney World, this one was my favorite. I think Satu’li Canteen is one of the best restaurants in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
