Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe Review
Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe is a quick service restaurant in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. The restaurant serves hamburgers and hot dogs. Cosmic Ray’s also has entertainment from a cool alien called Sonny Eclipse. My family ate here on our last trip. Here is our review of the food and experience.
Atmosphere
My kids had fun watching the music styling of Sonny Eclipse. This is a fun place for kids to be entertained as they eat. Also, The restaurant has lots of seating. I prefer to eat at restaurants with lots of places to sit. As a family we’ve had problems finding seats at some restaurants. It’s never fun to have to wander around with kids trying to find a place to sit and eat. Therefore I really appreciate Cosmic Rays for having so many places to sit.
In addition, people love this place for the toppings bar. Sadly it wasn’t open when we were there. Hopefully it will come back soon.
Mobile Order
Right now mobile order is highly encouraged at this location. However, this doesn’t mean there won’t be a line. I used mobile order many times during our vacation. Cosmic Ray’s had the longest line. Cosmic Ray’s has different bays to pick up food and all of them had long lines. Although, there was a line, it only took 5 minutes to get the food. So not a big deal just expect there may be a line.
Spicy Chicken Sandwich
I ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and it came with fries. It cost $11.99. The sandwich had bacon, pepper jack cheese and a sriracha slaw. The chicken sandwich was very good. It had lots of flavor. The chicken itself was flavorful. The sriracha slaw was a nice addition. It added texture to the sandwich. I like it when there are different textures in my food. It wasn’t too spicy but also not mild. It was a good level of heat. The fries were also good and fresh. They came out warm. If you like spicy chicken sandwiches, I would recommend this one.
1/3lb Angus Bacon Cheeseburger
Tim ordered the Angus Bacon Cheeseburger. This cost $11.99. The cheeseburger also has lettuce and tomato on it. Tim enjoyed it so much, he finished it before I had a chance to taste it. He thought it was very good. It was a step above what you get at a fast food restaurant. It’s still a basic hamburger but better than the typical fast food hamburger.
Kids Meals
Candon loves hamburgers. However, I was surprised that hamburgers are not an option on the kids meal. Sure, I could have ordered it from the normal menu. However, the kids meal includes drinks, fruit and it’s cheaper.
Moreover, Candon wanted to try the macaroni and cheese, so he didn’t mind not getting a hamburger. The macaroni and cheese cost $6.69. It came with a mandarin orange and applesauce. Candon enjoyed his macaroni and cheese. It was creamy and delicious.
Zachary ate the chicken strips. It comes with 2 good size chicken strips, mandarin, and applesauce. The price was $7.49. He enjoyed it and the portion size was perfect for him.
Cheshire Cafe Cat Tail
The Cheshire Cafe Cat Tail is normally found at the Cheshire Cafe. However, it’s still closed. So instead guests can buy it at Cosmic Ray’s. The price is $5.49. This was very good and flaky. I was worried it would be dry because sometimes pastries like this can be dry. It had a gooey center and wasn’t dry at all. We shared it but next time I want one all to myself.
Final Thoughts
Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe was a fun experience. How often do you get to be entertained by an alien? I didn’t eat here on our first trip because some reviews said it wasn’t the best food. However, my family enjoyed the food. The food came out warm and had plenty of flavor. Our experience was good. I enjoy fast food hamburgers once in a while and that’s what I expected here. If you like fast food hamburgers, you’ll enjoy Cosmic Ray’s.
